How you can help the Church

In all time since the founding of the church she has been under attack. Attacks have come from both outside and within the church. Evil does exist in the world. In each age the counter to these attacks and the church’s defense have arisen from those who love her and care enough to protect for her. It’s our turn!

Be Aware

For starters be aware of both outright and subtle attacks on the church. Most important, when you do notice something don’t let it go. The Catholic Defense League is a group of like-minded individuals who share your concern. If you are a subscriber to our discussion list you can let others know what you have found or check to see if others have also noticed it.

Act

Noticing without acting won’t help. As noted the first step is to “pool our interests” using the mailing list capabilities of the discussion list, Input1@cdlmn.org. Just as important when we notice an offense against the church we must act by objecting in a firm but Christian way. Usually that means a letter to the media organization, paper, TV, etc. expressing disagreement in a tone which is proportional to the offense. While even a single letter to the editor can have a good effect, many letters from many people will really get their attention.

Become an active member

The first step in becoming more active is to become aware of attacks on and insults to the church as noted above. By using the discussion lists one can get a better sense of the impact of these attacks and what can be done about them. That is the second step. The next steps are levels of becoming actively involved by writing letters and contributing. Become a more active Member (See the "Membership" button on our Home Page).

Recruit

If our efforts are to be successful we must have many members who will complain when the Church is attacked. We ask that you help in finding like-mined people to help us by soliciting them in your Sunday bulletins. Sample text for inclusion in the bulletin is contained in Sample_Text. Please help your parish to get this included in your Sunday bulletin. Note that the sample text is here to help avoid any transcription errors.
